Hello! It is truly an honor and privilege to host, serve, and entertain those who visit this latest addition to an emerging region. This endeavor was born out of a passion and an understanding that among the world of wine, Pennsylvania has something to say.
I started making wine in Pennsylvania after the opportunity to join the team of one of the state's oldest producers was offered to me. Winemaking was a bit different from what I had been working in, but the combination of many of my past work and academic experiences gave me a hunch that it might be a good fit. Previous to wine, I was involved in several sectors of nonprofits. Most formatively I worked on a team that's goal was to augment and fortify systems among communities of subsistence farmers battling the effects of severe drought and erratic weather changes in the mountains outside of Managua, Nicaragua. Additionally, I was assisting in running operations for a women's beekeeping cooperative producing organic honey for export. After moving back to the U.S. I served a short time in an organization offering healthcare and housing assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness in Baltimore City. These experiences and many others like them taught me a great deal about what it means to build something, adapt to challenges, and work towards a greater objective.
The practice of winemaking is as old as human existence. I see it as a partnership between nature and human effort, sustainable agriculture and manufacturing, science and art, spoilage and preservation. Working for small, family-owned wineries in PA has given me the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of what it means to be a wine producing enterprise. Coupled with self-study, academic achievement, and time spent training under industry mentors, I am pleased to present to you some of the best that PA has to offer.
